Avarni Product update – April 2026

Go from raw financial data to audit-ready emissions disclosure faster with AI-generated GL rules and built-in audit trails.

Avarni Product update – April 2026

Close the gap between data import and audit-ready disclosure

Getting from raw financial data to an audit-ready emissions calculation still takes too long for most finance teams. This month's update shortens that process with AI-generated GL rules that handle the bulk of rule creation, Excel exports built for auditor handoff, and file-level tracking that gives your team a clear audit trail on every source document.

AI-generated general ledger rules

Building GL rules by hand is slow, repetitive work, and it introduces risk every time a rule is configured incorrectly. With this release, Avarni's AI inspects your imported General Ledger data and generates a set of suggested rules, complete with emission factor mappings and audit notes.

These suggestions appear in a dedicated review screen where you can accept, reject, or modify each one before it gets added to your rules list. Nothing is applied automatically. Your team retains full sign-off over every rule, while the AI handles the initial heavy lifting.

We have also improved the UX for accepting suggestions, so the flow from "review" to "approve" is faster and requires fewer clicks.

Excel export for chart of accounts and general ledger

You can now export your Chart of Accounts and General Ledger data to Excel directly from the platform. This is particularly useful when your auditor requests supporting schedules, or when your finance team needs to run independent checks against the GL before sign-off.

Assessments module: quality of life improvements

Several smaller updates reduce friction in the day-to-day assessment workflow.

Account Type column and filter on the General Ledger: A new "Account Type" column is now available on the GL view, with a matching filter. This makes it simple to isolate assets, expenses, liabilities, or revenue accounts when reviewing categorisations or building rules.

Progress reporting on Chart of Accounts upload: When you upload a Chart of Accounts, the platform now shows upload progress so you know exactly where things stand rather than waiting on a spinner.

Edit rules during background recalculation: Previously, you could not save changes to a rule while a recalculation was running in the background. Now you can save at any time. If a recalculation is in progress, the platform will ask you to confirm, then reset the calculation to include your changes.

Saved filter presets now load correctly: A bug where saved filter presets did not prefill their values in the filter panel has been fixed. Filters now restore exactly as you saved them.

OCR review: file-level status and audit notes

The OCR review screen now supports file-level tracking. Each uploaded document can carry its own review status, audit notes, and an editable total spend figure. This gives your team a clear record of which source documents have been reviewed, what was flagged, and where manual adjustments were made. When your auditor asks "how did you verify this invoice?", the answer is right there on the file.

Why this matters for your team

  • Faster time to disclosure: AI-generated rules compress weeks of manual rule-building into a review-and-approve workflow, without sacrificing control.
  • Stronger audit trail: File-level OCR tracking, Account Type filtering, and Excel exports give your auditor the supporting evidence they need in the format they expect.
  • Fewer bottlenecks: Non-blocking recalculations, progress reporting, and reliable filter presets mean your team spends less time waiting and more time closing out the assessment.
