Avarni named a finalist in the Financial Review Sustainability Leaders 2026

Avarni recognised as an Australian Financial Review and BDO Sustainability Leader for its role helping companies navigate mandatory climate disclosures under ASRS and AASB S2

SYDNEY, Australia: September 4, 2026 — Avarni, an AI-powered sustainability reporting and carbon accounting software provider, has been named a finalist in the Telecommunications, Media & Technology category of the Financial Review Sustainability Leaders 2026, presented by BDO. It is the second time Avarni has been recognised by the program, having been named a Sustainability Leader in 2023.

The Financial Review Sustainability Leaders program recognises Australian companies driving measurable environmental impact alongside business value. Entrants are assessed against five pillars: the significance and additionality of their innovation, strategic alignment and stewardship, measurable impact within the organisation, impact beyond the organisation, and durability and future potential. Winners and finalists are selected by industry category and company size, with results published by The Australian Financial Review.

The recognition comes as Avarni continues to scale its work helping Australian organisations navigate mandatory climate reporting. With the phased rollout of the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) under AASB S2 now underway — starting with the largest Group 1 entities in January 2025 and extending to smaller reporting groups through 2027 — an increasing number of ASX-listed and other large Australian businesses are required to disclose climate-related risks, opportunities and emissions for the first time. Avarni's platform automates the collection and calculation of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions from activity and spend data, integrates with enterprise finance and procurement systems, and provides the audit trails organisations need to meet AASB S2 assurance requirements.

Misha Cajic, Co-Founder and Co-CEO at Avarni, said: "ASRS reporting deadlines are landing for more organisations every year, and that's exactly where we want to be useful. Being named a Financial Review Sustainability Leaders finalist again means a lot, as it reflects the work happening behind the scenes to help Australian businesses turn mandatory climate disclosure into something they can actually act on."
